The finest of coffee selections

Whole Bean vs Ground Coffee: What to do when faced with the choice of purchasing ground or whole beans? Here is a simple explanation as to the advantages of either option. Both may have advantages such as ground coffee eliminates time to grind the beans (that’s pretty much it). Whole Beans have lasting freshness, you decide the grind size for preparation method and naturally, intense aroma as you grind.

Who is Home Brew

The story of “passion meets purpose”

Adrian Nel

“Passion meets purpose” pretty much sums up Home Brew. Many times, we are passionate about things, yet lack a form of purpose. I liken my passion for coffee to my relationship with the Lord. The more time I spend with these two figures, the deeper the passion grows. So as time rolls on, plans and ideas about Home Brew start to develop and mature. The reason for the name Home Brew, is to describe a place of rest, restoration and safety. A type of atmosphere more than just a good cup of coffee. And hey, the coffee is also great!

2016 is where it started: Serving people, creating a place of comfort and pouring adventure in a cup. But, as one knows, there has to be more than that. The plan for the future is to use this ever-expanding commodity (coffee) to reinvest into hand-picked projects of whichever kind.

In a nutshell, this is Home Brew. The rest is still being written.

Martin Muller

I always enjoy coffee and the social door it opens to connect deeper with people. Something happens over a cup of coffee that cannot be duplicated anywhere else.  Home Brew definitely provides all of that and a chance to share a little of myself and hope with others. I love the bridges that Home Brew builds with the simple hand over of a cup of fresh brew from one hand to another.

Ephesians 3:19-21 AMPC

It all started with a coffee I had one evening close to the end of 2017.

That evening I went with an expectation of starting a Homecell at church, but within the first sentence that was spoken to me by our Pastor, the Lord opened a new door for me. Within the first week I got the opportunity to be trained by the founder of Home Brew Coffee. The more I experienced the joy of making good coffee, I increasingly felt the love of Christ filling me and flowing through me.

The passion Adrian has for coffee, had become my motivation to work towards making the perfect espresso. By learning to work in unity and mutual respect, we constantly felt God’s presence.

We have seen that God has always provided for us in that we always had enough of what we needed for making coffee. Even though one time the espresso machine failed us, we stood together and prayed and then the Lord turned it into a great success. From each espresso that was extracted the passion and love we had put into making it, was carried over to the people we served. The way we treated the people with friendliness, love, and compassion had lifted their hearts, isn’t that what every good Barista should do?

From the start till the end of making every coffee at Home Brew it may seem like it is filled with just espresso, but we add one more ingredient which makes us stand out, that is the love of Jesus Christ.
